|
With support from many organisations and individuals, inparticular the substantial donations by the staff of ABN AMRO bank in the Netherlands (EUR 200.000) and by the Rotary Club Brussel-Coudenberg, preparations were started to purchase land, obtain a building, establish an organisational structure and develop programmes fit to the needs of the disaster area.

Construction of a Community Home in Lampaya Village
|
One of the initiators of the Community Home, Managing Partner of PA Asia Mr. Rio D. Praaning Prawira Adiningrat, travelled to Aceh to personally prepare the grounds for the Community Home and to understand what the immediate and longer terms needs of the people of Aceh are.
Next to serving as a new meeting place for the local community, the Community Home will provide Acehnese survivors with medical, dental and mental aid, a children’s playground, and support to regain their social and economic life.
WHO assists the Community Home with the start and operations of the medical clinic, Dental help is obtained from Bimesa, Unicef will provide trauma-relief and child care and Muhammadiyah helps with social support activities.

Location Clearing
|
Due to sky-rocketing prices, swept away land administration offices, missing land title documents and uncertainties regarding the possibility of resurrecting buildings again in tsunami stricken areas, obtaining appropriate land appeared not to be an easy task.

With the great help of Assistant Regional Secretary Mr. Setiabudi of Aceh Province, and the Regional Secretary of the Sub-district of Lhok Nga, Mr. Herli Sandrasah, Ambassador Sulaiman Abdulmanan managed to secure suitable land only weeks before the building materials arrived from Australia.

Framing Process
|
After considering many options, a light-weight steel frame solution from Fort Networks in Brisbane, Australia, appeared the most advantageous for the local people.
